About Me

Karen (Zucal) Varnas

My love of photography began at an early age. I was influenced by my grandfather, Joseph P. Ferris who always had his camera in hand. He worked at Cadillac Color Plate as a Photo Engraver (engraved plate printing) in Detroit, Michigan. I was also influenced by my father, Arthur Zucal, who loved to take family photos at Christmas, Easter, and other holidays. We would stand in place, in front of the fireplace, for what seemed like hours, while he focused and re-focused. We would all groan and complain but I am grateful that we have those photos to look back on.

I have been a professional photographer for more than 30 years, having had instruction from Monte Nagler, Bruce Harkness, Kathleen Thompson, among many others.

As a photographer, I strive to capture a moment of perfect, beautiful simplicity in an ever-changing world and this, to me, is what photography is all about.

My work is for sale on FineArtAmerica. and StoneworksImagery

I also offer photo restoration and editing services. Click here for more information.
